The goals by Henrikh Mikhitaryan and Robert Lewandowski secured Borussia Dortmund a ticket for the DFB Pokal final as they overcame Wolfsburg 2-0 on Tuesday.

The "BVB" maintain their chance to lift one trophy this season as Juergen Klopp's men progress into the German Cup final in Berlin thanks to two first-half goals.

Wolfsburg were in possession of the ball for most of the time but Dortmund's clinical chance conversion made all the difference in a fast paced encounter.

Both sides needed some time to gain a foothold into the match but with 12 minutes into the match Dortmund stunned the visitors with the opener. Henrikh Mikhitaryan broke the deadlock into the bottom right from inside the box following an assist by Marco Reus.

Wolfsburg remained unimpressed and continued their attacks meanwhile Dortmund focused on fast breaks following turnovers. Yet, the "Wolves" were unlucky when Dortmund's goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller saved an effort by Kevin De Bruyne. In addition, unmarked Ivica Olic and Naldo missed a cross in Dortmund's goal area.

The visitors created their best chances five minutes before the break as Junior Malanda rattled the right post before De Bryune pulled the second ball just wide. However, Juergen Klopp's men shocked the Wolves at the 43rd minute when Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead into the top left corner against the run of the play.

After the restart things started as they left off, Wolfsburg controlled the ball but lacked in their use of chances meanwhile Dortmund continued their wait-and-see strategy. Wolfsburg created many chances but never overcame Weidenfeller to spark comeback hopes in the second half.

"We have done a good job but it is definitely a lucky victory. We had a lot of luck and a good goalkeeper today," Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said.

Tomorrow Bayern Munich will encounter second league side Kaiserslautern for the other German Cup semi-final.
