Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as their baby, Prince George, arrived in Sydney Wednesday afternoon for a 10-day Australian visit.

This is the royal family's first official visit to the country.

The royal family were welcomed with an official reception and a meet-and-greet at the Sydney Opera House this afternoon, attracting hundreds of fans gathering outside, hoping to see the royal couple and the little prince.

The family will stay in Sydney for the first three days of the 10-day tour and will attend the Royal Easter Show and watch surf lifesavers in action at Manly Beach, according to their schedule.

They will also visit the Blue Mountains on Thursday, meeting survivors of the bushfires that devastated this famous spot of New South Wales in October last year.

But Prince George will only attend some specific engagements during the tour and is expected to pay a visit to Sydney's Taronga Park Zoo on Sunday.

The tour also includes visit to other Australian cities like Brisbane, Uluru, Adelaide and will end in Canberra, where the couple are going to attend the Anzac Day march and service at the Australian War Memorial before heading home to Britain on April 25.
