Some 700 households across the nation have found their ideal ayi through the mobile phone app.

However, while in previous times people hiring an ayi were concerned with basic information such as age and province of origin, more people are now concerned about the physical appearance of the ayi and even her zodiac sign.

A manager named Lei Aiyin from Shanghai Junjie Domestic Service Company told local media that many of their clients reject applicants born in the Year of the Tiger or the Year of the Dog, or if they believe the zodiac sign conflicts with that of their children. Some young clients stressed on their orders that they don't want an ayi who is a Virgo.
