Air China

In-flight Wi-Fi services on Air China flights from Beijing to Chengdu were unveiled on Wednesday.

The service allows passengers to surf the Internet, check e-mails, make video calls, and browse microblogs and social media on their tablet computers or laptops, but not on their smartphones.

The in-flight broadband Internet access features 4G mobile technology, and can reach speeds of about 30 megabits per second.

In July last year, Air China tested on board Wi-Fi services through satellite data transmission.

Spring Airlines

Spring Airlines said that it will suspend flights on the route from Shanghai to Sabah in Malaysia from Tuesday. The company also said it will stop offering daily flights from Shanghai to Singapore, and will offer flights on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, starting from May 20.

The airline said that the price of tour packages to Thailand and Japan has soared as the May 1 holiday is approaching. The package on April 27 from Shanghai to Chiang Mai in Thailand was 780 yuan ($125.42), but it soared to 3,090 yuan for the tour starting from April 29.

Honeywell

Honeywell Aerospace said Wednesday that it has further strengthened its authorized service center network in Asia-Pacific through an agreement with Bombardier Aerospace's Singapore Service Centre. As part of the agreement, Bombardier's newest wholly owned maintenance facility will offer retrofit, modification and upgrade services for Honeywell products to Bombardier business jet operators in the region.

The expansion of support for Bombardier aircraft in Asia-Pacific means operators in the region will save time, and see lower operational costs.

Cathay Pacific Airways

Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will launch a four-times-a-week service to Manchester in the UK from December 8. Tickets for the service are now on sale.

Located in northwest England, Manchester is a regional transport and business hub that is renowned for its architecture, culture, industrial heritage and sports clubs.

The Manchester service will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Flights will depart from Hong Kong to Manchester every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Departures from Manchester are also on these days.

Boeing

Boeing said Thursday that it had delivered the 8,000th 737 to come off the production line to United Airlines. The airplane, a Next-Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range), features a special logo.

The 737 is the first commercial airplane in history to reach this delivery milestone, and it still has a strong backlog with more than 3,700 airplanes on order, including 1,934 orders for the new 737 MAX.

United Airlines was the first airline to order and take delivery of the 737-200.

Since 1965, the airline has taken delivery of more than 550 737s.
