Nepal's main opposition party UCPN (Maoist) has demanded that there should be an agreement among parties to bring all the war-era cases under the jurisdiction of Truth and Reconciliation Commission or transitional justice mechanism, party leaders said on Friday.

The party said that all the cases against its cadres in the regular court proceedings should be cancelled.

The party is obstructing the parliament demanding release of its 16 cadres in connection to war-era cases. After the court on Thursday arrested Maoist cadres on bail, Maoist might let the parliament function.

The Maoist party has also said that some western countries are funding in Nepal to provoke the war-era cases.

The disruption of parliament has affected the discussion on two bills related to Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission on Enforced Disappearance.

Party leaders say if the bills related to transitional justice mechanism are adopted, it would allow the constitution drafting process to proceed.
