A German parliament official has said in Vilnius that the German Bundestag will vote for Lithuania's entry into the eurozone in 2015, said a statement posted Friday on the website of Seimas, or the Lithuanian parliament.

Manuel Sarrazin, Spokesman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union of the German Bundestag, has said Germany greatly supported Lithuania's eurozone membership, during his meeting with Lithuania's Seimas on Thursday.

Gediminas Kirkilas, deputy speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, said, "Germany welcomes the introduction of the euro in all three Baltic States as of next year," according to the statement.

The final decision regarding Lithuania's membership into the eurozone would be taken by European Union (EU) institutions this summer at the earliest.

Lithuania is seeking to join the eurozone in 2015, as the last of the Baltic three to be a member of the single currency bloc.
