Cambodia's only listed firm reports 12.5 pct surge in profit last year

Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA), Cambodia's only listed company, made a net profit of 9.68 million US dollars in 2013, up 12.5 percent compared with 8.6 million US dollars in a year earlier, the firm 's audited financial statement showed Saturday.

The statement said the company earned a total revenue of 37.9 million US dollars last year, up 12 percent from 33.8 million U. S. dollars in a year earlier.

PPWSA processes and supplies water to Phnom Penh City and surrounding areas. The state-run enterprise is the first and only enterprise that listed on the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX), which launched trading two years ago.

CSX's director-general Hong Sok Hour has said that currently, the country's fledgling stock market has more than 5,000 investors.

CSX is expected to get the second listing company next month. Grand Twins International (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., a Phnom Penh-based garment maker for US athletic brands, announced Friday that it will list on the stock market on May 29.
