According to the Female Workers Committee of the Beijing Federation of Labor Unions, Beijing will build 1,000 "mommy rooms" in the next three years; more than 260 companies have applied to build the nursing rooms, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The rooms, equipped with refrigerators and lactation supplies, will have curtains for privacy; they will be stationed in companies, office buildings and neighborhood service centers. Airports, stations, malls, and other public facilities will also be encouraged to set aside dedicated spaces for nursing.

Due to the new second-child policy, a baby boom is expected in the near future. However, statistics show that only 7 percent of companies in Beijing currently have nursing rooms.
