Police in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province, the former stronghold of Taliban, have discovered weapon cache containing a variety of ordnance, Interior Ministry said in a statement released in Kabul on Sunday.

"Units of Police during search operations in Panjwai district of Kandahar province have found weapon cache containing various arms and explosive devices including 82 anti-tanks and anti- personnel mines," the statement added.

No one has been arrested in this case, the statement said.

However, it added that the police personnel by discovering the weapon cache have foiled the Taliban conspiracies to conduct terrorist attacks.
