Afghan security forces arrested four militants, including a would-be suicide bomber, in northern Afghan province of Jawzjan, foiling a potential terror attack, an official said on Monday.

"On an intelligence tip-off, three terrorists were detained on Sunday. The last member of the gang was detained earlier on Monday. The security forces defused a suicide jacket during the raid in the provincial capital Shibirghan," deputy provincial governor Abdul Rahman told Xinhua.

They tried to target a government agency building in the city, 390 km north of the Afghan capital Kabul, he noted.

The Taliban insurgent group has intensified attack in spring and summer known as the fighting season in the war-torn country.
