The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is expected to unveil the voting list of the names of contesting parties and their president candidates in May 7 general elections on Tuesday.

The IEC had received 45 applications, which include the African National Congress (ANC), the Democratic Alliance (DA), Agang SA, Congress of the People, Economic Freedom Fighters, African Christian Democratic Party, United Democratic Party, National Freedom Party, and Ximoko Party.

The IEC said that some applications had been rejected for the law-breaking history of their candidates.

A recent poll published by Sunday Times newspaper showed the ANC is poised to win a two-thirds majority in the upcoming general elections.

The poll found that the ANC looks likely to win 65.5 percent of voter support on an average turnout of 74.5 percent, against 23.1 percent for its major rival, the Democratic Alliance, which scored 16.7 percent in the 2009 elections.

The forecast for the ruling party is only a tad lower than its 65.9 percent win in the 2009 elections, and is roughly in tandem with several other polls showing a majority of about 60 percent for the ANC.
