Tokyo issues end lower on unfinished Japan-US TPP talks

Tokyo stocks ended lower Thursday as Japan and the United States still not reach an agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade talks.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average sharply lowered 141.28 points, or 0.97 percent, from Wednesday to end at 14,404.99.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.91 points, or 0.76 percent, at 1, 164.90.

Decliners were led by mining, rubber, utility and automaker issues.

The turnover was about 1,601.7 billion yen (about 15.63 billion US dollars).
