At least four people were killed and 15 others injured when a bomb targeting a police officer exploded outside a shop in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Thursday morning, local media reported.

Express TV said that Inspector Shafique Tanoli, who got suspended by police chief early last month due to some allegations against him, was sitting in a shop with his relatives when a suicide bomber blew up himself outside it.

Tanoli, who conducted many successful operations against militants and extortion mafia, was also targeted last year in the same area which is located a few yards away from his residence.

The killed people included Tanoli, his uncle, cousin and a passerby.

Police found head and limbs of the bomber who seemed to be a 30 to 35 year old man.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

The shop was completely destroyed in the blast, trapping several people inside, who were recovered and shifted to the hospital by rescue teams.

The blast happened at about 8:50 a.m. (local time) near vegetable market area of Karachi, the capital city of the country's south Sindh Province.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Governor Sindh, Ishrat-ul-Ibad, condemned the attack and sought an investigation report from the police chief.
