A guard in a hospital in western part of Kabul opened fire and killed three foreign doctors and injured another, Interior Ministry said in a statement released in Kabul.

"As a result of spraying bullets by a guard of Cure Hospital in Kabul's 6th precinct three foreigners were killed and a female health worker injured," the statement released here said.

However, it didn't identify the nationalities of the victims, saying investigation has been initiated into the case.

Meanwhile, police have cordoned off the area and do not allow journalists to get access to the site of the incident which took place at 09:50 a.m. local time.

The attacker was also injured, according to the statement of Interior Ministry.

Cure hospital which has been supported by foreign aid agencies has been providing free medical treatment for patients particularly those suffering from tuberculosis, over the past decade.
