On Wednesday Shakespeare's Globe launched a two-year global tour intended to bring the play Hamlet to every nation and territory in the world.

The ambitious marathon tour, which will run until April 23, 2016, aims to mark two very important anniversaries: the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth and the 400th anniversary of his death.

The "Globe to Globe Hamlet" tour is a fresh small-scale version of Shakespeare's classic tragedy of deferred revenge.

A new cast of just eight actors will perform over two dozen parts in two hours and 40 minutes.

Designed by Jonathan Fensom and composed by Bill Barclay, the production is being directed by Shakespeare's Globe Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst.

Malu Alsaldo, one of the producers of the tour, told the Global Times that the worldwide Hamlet tour is brother to the 2012 "Globe to Globe Festival."

"In 2012, we had a very big festival. We did every single Shakespeare play, each of them done by a different country in their own language. This time, instead of bringing the world to the Globe, we are now taking the Globe to the world."

"It's beyond words," Alsaldo said, explaining that although they are performing the show in English, they are not worried about language barriers. "When we brought all the different companies from around the world here in 2012, a lot of people who didn't speak the language [used in the performance] could still enjoy the play. Theater is more than words; you can still get into the story, then understand and follow it," she added.

Helena Miscioscia, spokesperson for the tour, told the Global Times that the Hamlet tour will arrive in China in autumn 2015. Before that, they will also bring A Midsummer Night's Dream  to China this autumn.
