Chinese badminton icon Lin Dan, who is also multiple world champion and twice Olympic gold medalist, will play in the Thomas Cup Badminton Championship in New Delhi from May 18 to 25, said local newspaper Times of India Friday.

The newspaper quoted Chinese team's sponsor Li Ning as saying the 30-year-old champion shuttler is going to participate in the team championship.

Li Ning is the sponsor of the Chinese teams apart from being the title sponsor of the Thomas (men's event) and Uber Cup (women's event) championships.
