Government officials in Guangzhou are banned from nightclubs, private clubs and discos, local authorities said on Wednesday.

Officials will not be allowed to enter public places of entertainment, according to the newest regulation issued by the discipline inspectorate of Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong Province.

In another highly publicized effort to rein in official excess known as the "10 Bans" forbids officials from using public funds to pay for luxury meals. Receiving gifts, souvenirs and coupons is also strictly prohibited.

Communist Party of China discipline inspection agencies have been taking a hard public line in fighting against corruption, punishing about 182,000 officials nationwide in 2013, 13.3 percent more than in 2012.
