Police in Shanghai discovered two large navy artillery shells in the trunk of a car Sunday afternoon, China Central Television reported.

The shells are both 1.2 meters tall. Police found the shells during an X-ray inspection in Xicen township, Qingpu district in Shanghai.

After a preliminary inspection, police confirmed that the explosive devices in the shells had been removed. Police are waiting for reports from military experts to decide whether the shells are standard arms.
