Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on May 13, 2014 unveiled a micro sized-unmanned aerial system developed for American Special Operations forces and counterterrorism units. Hand-launched by a single operator, Arrowlite is a tactical drone that provides small teams with aerial surveillance and reconnaissance of targets. It can be assembled and launched in 60 to 90 seconds after removal from a carry case, and features a payload of day/night thermal cameras, a laser illuminator and encrypted data-link, according to a statement from IAI. Arrowlite was designed and manufactured by Stark Aerospace, a subsidiary of IAI North America based in Columbus, Mississippi, with support from the Pentagon's Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO), which awarded the contract to develop the system in January 2012.
