A high-ranking executive with the State-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is under investigation for suspected "severe disciplinary violations," the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said August 26, 2013.

Wang Yongchun, 53, a deputy manager with the CNPC and general manager of its subsidiary Daqing Oilfield Co Ltd in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, is now being investigated.

The Party's disciplinary watchdog did not provide further details.

According to Wang's resume, he has served as the CNPC's deputy manager and Daqing Oilfield's Party chief since February 2008.
