China on Wednesday rejected the US statement on the June 4 incident, saying it "shows a total disregard of fact."

"The US statement on that incident shows a total disregard of fact. It blames the Chinese government for no reasons, gravely interferes in China's internal affairs and violates the basic norms guiding international relations," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in a statement released on Wednesday night.

Hong's comments came after the White House Press Secretary made a statement on the 25th anniversary of the June 4th incident. US President Barack Obama also mentioned the incident when he delivered a speech in Warsaw, Poland.

"China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to that," Hong said.

"We have lodged solemn representations to the US side," He said.

The spokesman said clear conclusions have been reached on the political incident which happened in the late 1980s as well as issues related to that incident.

The great achievements of the past thirty years and more of reform and opening-up have fully demonstrated that the development path that China chooses is absolutely correct and is firmly supported by the general public, Hong said.

Hong urged the United States to abandon political bias, stop using the so-called human rights issues to interfere in China's internal affairs and take concrete actions to maintain the development of China-US relationship.
