Badminton Russian Open Grand Prix starts in Vladivostok

The 2014 Russian Open Grand Prix badminton tournament started on Wednesday at the Olympic Sports Center in Vladivostok, Russia.

The Russian Open is the country's main international elite badminton tournament with some 200 players from 16 countries and regions to take part in.

The tournament that runs through July 27, is traditionally held in Vladivostok since 2004. Only in 2008 it moved to Moscow.

It features men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The finals are scheduled for July 27, with a total prize money of 50,000 US dollars.
