A plane of Kuwait Airways made an emergency landing late Monday afternoon at Brussels Airport, the spokesperson for the airport, Florence Muls, has confirmed to Xinhua.

According to her, the appearance of smoke in the cockpit of the plane has forced this emergency landing.

The pilot noticed a warning of smoke in the cargo section of the aircraft and decided to land as a precaution, she has explained.

The landing was uneventful and all passengers have left the aircraft and were transported by bus to the airport building.

After verification by the firefighters, it turned out that nothing threatened the safety of the aircraft and passengers on board. Technicians of Kuwait Airways took over.

The Embassy of Kuwait in Brussels has sent one of its representatives to meet the passengers.

Currently, technicians expect a new fire extinguisher to be sent to them in order to head back to London, their final destination, Ms Muls added.
