Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev on Tuesday presented a caretaker government whose main task is to organize early elections due in October.

Plevneliev said in a statement that the caretaker government, led by law professor Georgi Bliznashki, would take office on Wednesday.

It will replace the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) cabinet led by Plamen Oresharski that resigned on July 23, after its supporting party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) demanded early parliamentary elections.

Bliznashki, born on Oct. 4, 1956, has been an expert in constitutional law since 1982, and author of more than 70 works on constitutional and legal topics.

He was a member of the Supreme Council of BSP and BSP legislator in the National Assembly from 1991 to 1994 and 2005 to 2007, but later on he changed his political views and on March 7, 2014, BSP terminated his membership "for damaging the prestige of the party."

This will be the fourth Bulgarian caretaker government during the last 25 years.
