The Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism is considering altering the country's national anthem with aims to inspire the national patriotic spirit, state-run daily Vientiane Times reported on Wednesday.

While the rhythm and content of the original anthem will remain, the new version will feature enhanced acoustics and 40 singers, up from the original 10 singers, said the report.

The ministry hopes that the proposed updated anthem will sound even more powerful than before and intensify the patriotic spirit of the Lao people.

The final version is expected to be submitted for approval to higher authorities in the next several months.

If approved, it will be officially used by next year.
