"When I come out of the subway station, I have to walk 80 meters further than before to reach the bus station. It is intolerable in this summer heat."

A Beijing resident surnamed Zhang said this in reaction to the move of the Yangzhalukou Nan Bus Station on Chaoyang Lu, Chaoyang district. Heavy traffic near the bus station caused by unlicensed taxies prompted officials to move the station further south. It was originally located 150 meters away from the Shuangqiao Subway Station on the Batong Line. Similarly, the Qingnianlukou Bei Bus Station was shifted north more than 100 meters away from the Qingnianlu Subway Station on Line 6. Many passengers have complained the relocation of these bus stations inconveniences them. Staff members from Beijing Public Transport Holdings said bus stations are allowed to be moved for the sake of easing congestion. (Source: The Beijing Youth Daily)
