China is willing to build an Asia-Pacific partnership with APEC members that will lead future cooperation in the region, State Councilor Yang Jiechi said in Beijing on Wednesday.

The Asia-Pacific economies will play an increasingly important role in promoting world peace and development, Yang said, noting that the economies are reforming their development patterns and the international status of the economies will continue to grow.

He called for positive progress in the areas of Asia-Pacific economic integration, innovative development, promoting reform, finding new areas of growth and strengthening connectivity, aiming to make more contributions for lasting development, prosperity and progress in the Asia-Pacific region.
