Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his South Sudanese counterpart Marial Benjamin in Beijing on Tuesday that political dialogue is the sole way for South Sudan to realize national reconciliation.

Concerning the South Sudan conflicts, Wang said a cease-fire and an end to the violence is a precondition for peace and stability in South Sudan.

Wang stressed that political dialogue is the sole way for South Sudan to realize national reconciliation, and expressed hope that conflicting political parties will jointly push forward inclusive dialogue and find a solution acceptable to all.

Hot issues in Africa should be settled by African countries in their own way, Wang said, adding this is a principle in mediating South Sudan conflicts.

China firmly backs the mediation efforts and leading role of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), he added.

China has offered humanitarian assistance to South Sudan since the occurrences of conflicts in the country, Wang said, adding that China would continue its aid as the situation develops.

Benjamin said South Sudan attaches great importance to its ties with China, and appreciates China's mediation efforts and proposals.

South Sudan would like to make the utmost efforts in promoting cease-fire, dialogues and reconciliation, Benjamin said. Calling South Sudan an important cooperation partner of China, Wang said China hopes to cement political contacts, substantial cooperation and cultural exchanges with the country.

Invited by Wang, Benjamin is visiting China from August 18 to 22.
