China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang met on Tuesday with visiting Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, vowing to facilitate closer parliamentary exchanges.

Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, said China-Romania relations are at the best period of development in history, citing strengthened political trust and fruitful cooperation in various fields.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties as well as the 10th anniversary of their all-round friendly cooperation partnership.

Zhang called on the two countries' legislative bodies to enhance cooperation.

"The NPC hopes to share experience with the Romanian parliament in legislation and governance, and offer a better legal guarantee for bilateral cooperation in various areas," he said.

Ponta, in his turn, said his country is a good friend and partner of China in the European Union and the international community.

He expressed his hope for stronger political ties, parliamentary exchanges and win-win cooperation with China.

Ponta was visiting China from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 as the guest of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
