Free entrance to parks on National Day

According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, 373 parks in Beijing, which account for 96 percent of all the parks in the city, will be open to the public free of charge on the National Day (October 1), reported the Beijing Youth Daily.

The Beijing Botanical Garden, Longtan Park, Fragrant Hills Park, and Ditan Park are among the parks that will be free of charge. Cultural activities have also been organized in numerous parks. At Yuanmingyuan (also known as the Old Summer Palace), there will be seven days of opera shows, including Peking Opera, Shaoxing Opera, Kunqu Opera and others. The Beijing Botanical Garden will put on an exhibition of the autumn harvest, presenting cartoon characters made of grains and fruits.
