Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform has announced that a hearing to reform ticket fares of the city's public transportation system will be held in the near future, reported the Beijing Youth Daily.

The metered fare system is set to replace the single-price system in an attempt to make the city transportation function better. Short-distance passengers will be guided to buses, while long-distance passengers will be guided to subway transportation. More than 24,000 people had submitted their suggestions regarding the public transportation reform before the announcement.
