Hebei Province in north China on Wednesday terminated its emission-reduction measures brought in for the duration of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, including a traffic ban based on an odd-and-even number plate rule.

Bordering the capital of Beijing, Hebei has launched a series of measures to ensure air quality since Nov. 4. More than 2,000 enterprises halted production, over 1,900 companies had their production reduced and about 1,700 construction sites were shut down in the province.

A traffic ban was also put in place, allowing cars to drive on alternating days based on their license plate numbers.

APEC meeting is a platform for leaders and representatives of member economies to discuss the economic development of the Asia-Pacific region.

The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting was held in Beijing from November 10 to 11. During APEC week, China hosted a series of meetings from November 5 to 11.
