More than 60,000 cyber attacks were blocked by China during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings last week, The Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

A total of 68,814 cyber attacks on the media center occurred during the meetings from November 7 to 12, Song Zheng, the staff member in charge of cyber security at the APEC media center in Beijing, said on Tuesday.

"No organizations or individuals were able to hack into our security system. There was no security incident," Song said. Lu Wei, director of the State Internet Information Office, told a media conference in October that China is a victim of cyber attacks and 80 percent of its government websites have been attacked.
