On Monday, the Xiamen City Government and The Palace Museum signed an agreement to jointly establish The Palace Museum: Kulangsu Foreign Relics Museum in Xiamen.

The Palace Museum has a massive collection of foreign antiques dating from the 16th to the 20th century, many of them are representatives of the political and culture exchanges that occurred between China and other countries. However, due to the collection's huge size and the museum's limited space, most of these foreign antiques do not have a chance to be seen by ordinary visitors.

The director of The Palace Museum, Shan Jixiang, said that the museum in Kulangsu will provide a platform for these antiques to be seen by a greater number of visitors.

Kulangsu, one of the islands that make up East China's city of Xiamen, has long been a hit tourist destination. According to city representatives, they plan to turn Kulangsu into "an island of museums."
