Foreign robotics firms dominate China's domestic market, according to the International Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Industry Alliance.

China's domestic manufacturers account for less than 20 percent of the market share, Luo Jun, executive chairman of the alliance, said on Friday at a press conference related to the upcoming robotics conference, which will be held in Sichuan Province.

Luo said as one of the top robotics markets in the world, China would witness positive market growth in next three decades.

But he admitted that the costs associated with the industry was a stumbling block for homegrown talent. An industrial robot can complete the work of 3.6 people, but it costs five to ten times more.

The government aims to introduce more robotic-friendly policies next year that will encourage investment and develop the robotics and intelligent equipment industry, he added.

The 2014 World Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Industry Conference & Exhibition is slated for December in Chengdu City.
