Geely Emgrand continues topping the sales among indigenous brands

Data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) recently showed that the sales of Geely Emgrand hit record again in October by amounting to 19,008 units, of which the domestic sales reached 17,069 units, up 34.2 percent year-on-year. Contributed by its outstanding performance, the model not only continued topping the sales among indigenous brands, but also was included in the top 10 sedans nationwide. Thanks to its outstanding performance in power, quality, and cost-performance, the sales of the model have been rising since it was launched at the end of July. Quite a few honors including the award of the top 10 Chinese engines also indicate that its good sales come from the outstanding performance of the product.

Emgrand remains the top with good sales and reputation As the flagship model of Geely, Emgrand enjoys the most impressive performance among  indigenous cars. Its sales in the past 5 years since its launch amounted to 600,000 units, showing the vigour and competitiveness of self-owned brands. The inspiration brought by the success of Emgrand is that self-owned brands should dedicate to the product attractiveness.

According to the statistics, the sales volume of the new Emgrand has risen to 17,952 units in September and reached 19,008 units in October from the 10,572 units in July when it was launched, enjoying a monthly growth of over 30%. Emgrand not only regains the sales champion, but also becomes the only self-owned brand among the 10 best-sold vehicle in October.

Insiders from Geely disclosed that the orders for Emgrand have already mounted to around 21,000 units in October, of which almost 10,000 orders have not been delivered to the dealers due to a lack of capacity. The production plant of Geely is now working on two shifts to meet the huge demand of the market.

With the the price reduction and the rapid updates of the products from the joint venture brands, the market environment for the indigenous brands has become increasingly tough, amid which the indigenous brands can draw some inspirations from the success of Geely Emgrand.

Build hard power with the spirit of concentration

The successful models of joint venture brands have proven that those models with sales volume of over 20,000 units usually rely on its outstanding product performance rather than marketing gimmicks. Geely's new Emgrand is a product with balanced product attractiveness as well.

The model's appearance, whether sedan or hatchback, all share a standard body proportion featured with fashion and agility. The sedan is simplistic and understated while the hatchback is full of the sense of movement.

As for the interior, the new Emgrand is characterized by the modern North European simplicity in terms of the color and the design of panel layout. The sedan variant uses an elegant light grey mix which brings a light, airy feeling to the vehicles interior. The hatchback is focused on sporty styling with black and red styling.

As the featured product of "Quality Geely", the new Emgrand complies with the strict ECE Standard. State-of-art equipment and technologies such as ABB, PDE, and Durr are applied in the production line to ensure the quality. The various configuration such as the second generation G-Netlink, keyless entry, Cruise Control System, 7-inch entertainment screen, G-link, and ABS+EBD also enhances the cost performance of the model.

The popularity of the new Emgrand is also attributed to the new turbo assisted engine. Among the sold cars, the high-end models with 1.3T engine witness a better performance, which verifies that the upgrading of the power greatly boosts the performance of the products.

As the most important engine product of Geely, the new 1.3T engine produces 98kW of power and 185Nm of torque which can propel the compact family sedan to a top speed of 195km/h. The engine has also been awarded as one of the top 10 Chinese engines in 2014. In addition to that, an option of a six speed manual or a six speed CVT gearbox also contributes to the model's outstanding performance.

The success of the new Emgrand has proven that as long as the indigenous brands could be down to earth to improve the products, they can occupy a ground to compete with the joint-venture brands.
