"Now some property management companies know about electric cars and are willing to provide charging stations for car owners. But the situation is more complicated in older compounds. They are already short on parking space and can hardly provide charging facilities."

There are currently 11,464 new energy vehicles in Shanghai. According to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, 10,886 new energy vehicles have been sold in the city. The growing market has created new requirements for supporting infrastructure, said Liu Jianhua, director of the Shanghai New Energy Automobile Promotion Office. The office has found that some property management companies are worried about safety issues because they don't know anything about electric cars.
