The Beijing Center for Diseases Prevention and Control (CDC) reported on January 23 that 68 cases of measles have been documented since January 1, which is 1.5 times the number of cases in the same period last year, according to the Beijing Daily.

Beijing's number of measles cases rose in 2014, when there were 2,391 documented cases, more than triple the number of cases in 2013.

The CDC reported that every year, the number of measles cases generally rises in January and reaches a peak in April or May. They highly recommend that children and adults get vaccinated to protect themselves from the disease.
