The establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) 85 years ago marked a turning point in the country's revolution, said Vietnamese party chief on Monday.

Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the CPV made the remarks at a ceremony held in capital Hanoi on Monday to observe the 85th anniversary of the party building.

"The 85-year journey has proved that the proper and wise leadership of CPV is the leading factor of every victory in Vietnam's revolutionary career," Trong said.

"In Vietnam, there is no other political force but the Communist Party of Vietnam that has enough wisdom, experience and ability to lead the country to overcome difficulties and challenges," the party chief emphasized.

The year 2015 also marks nearly 30 years of the country's opening up and reform with significant achievements, said Trong, adding that the country has transformed from a poor country to a middle-income one.

Over the past years, the CPV has made great efforts in party building, preventing the negatives and enhancing its leadership, Trong added.

Currently, the party, nation and army are striving to boost the industrialization and modernization process, develop the socialist- oriented market economy and promote international integration, he said.

The CPV was established on Feb. 3, 1930. There are currently around 4.4 million party members across Vietnam, according to information released by CPV's Central Organizing Committee at a meeting last month.
