Prosecutors on Tuesday filed lawsuits against 118 people for their roles in last year's occupation of Taiwan's legislature in opposition to the cross-Strait service trade agreement.

The charges include instigating others to commit a crime, trespassing, obstruction of official business and violating the assembly and parade law.

Prosecutors claim that on March 18 last year, Lin Fei-fan, Chen Wei-ting and Huang Kuo-chang, three major figures in the movement, were among 22 who incited others to break the law, leading to the 24-day occupation by hundreds of students and other residents.

Wei Yang, who led another group of protesters in a siege of the executive body on March 23, was one of the 93 indicted over that incident.

Prosecutors also charged Hung Chung-yen, who on April 11 mobilized a huge crowd via the Internet to surround a police bureau near the legislative body.
