The Moldovan Parliament on Wednesday approved the new coalition government proposed by Prime Minister-designate Chiril Gaburici.

The cabinet was voted by 60 members of the 101-seat parliament, much more than the required 51 votes for the installation, as deputies of the Communists also voted for the government composed of the Liberal Democrats and the Democrats.

Against the cabinet have voted the Socialist Party, which has the largest number of deputies, and the Liberal Party, the smallest parliamentary fraction.

The cabinet is composed of three deputy prime ministers and 16 ministers, with the foreign minister and economics minister also holding the posts of deputy prime minister.

Gaburici was fielded for premiership by the Liberal Democratic Party, soon after the cabinet proposed by former Prime Minister Iurie Leanca failed to win the confidence vote in parliament last Thursday. He was nominated officially as prime minister-designate by President Nicolae Timofti on Saturday.

On Jan. 23, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party signed an agreement to form a minority coalition government, as they could not reach agreement after more than 50 days of negotiations with the Liberal Party on formation of a three-party majority cabinet.

Gaburici, 38, managed the mobile phone company "Moldcell" from 2008 to 2012 and then its daughter company in Azerbaijan.

Gaburici is the last chance of the country to avoid a snap election, and also the last attempt to invest the government, otherwise the parliament will be dissolved.
