The Qianmen Street Management Committee has refuted on its official Sina Weibo account the widespread rumors online and in print media that there will be festivities on Lantern Festival (March 5) this year on Qianmen Street, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Qianmen Street used to host celebrations for the Lantern Festival, which featured lanterns, dragon dances, acrobatics, operas, and performances. But since 2012, there have not been any official celebrations. The notice advises people to choose other celebration activities.
