A dust explosion happened overnight in a newly built bio-oil factory in Joensuu, eastern Finland, local media reported on Thursday.
The factory belongs to the Finnish energy company Fortum. It was built in November 2013.
According to the rescue department, the explosion occurred in a crushing unit, and the smoldering fire caused by the explosion spread to a wood dust storage and a chip conveyor.
The system contains dry wood dust, and there exists an explosion hazardous condition, explained Timo Partanen, manager of the plant.
The explosion and fire have been controlled, and no casualty has been reported.
Partanen said the cause of the explosion will be investigated on Thursday.
In March 2014, an explosion caused by nitriding fault occurred in the same bio-oil plant, leaving three people injured.
