A man in Chengdu, Sichuan Province has been dubbed "Wolf Dad" by media for insisting that his 15-month-old son remain naked all year round in order to toughen him up.

Tan Juncheng, 41, said he has not dressed his son in a shred of clothing since he was six months old following an accident that scalded the boy's skin.

The tough dad gives his son two baths in cold water a day to "boost the boy's health," West China Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

Tan and his wife, both sanitation workers, nicknamed their son "Lajier," a homonym in Chinese that could mean "garbage boy."

The father is often seen playing with his birthday-suited boy in the morning after finishing his graveyard shift, the report said.

The boy was known in the neighborhood for playing outside completely nude, no matter the season.

Neighbors eventually called police and accused Tan of child abuse, according to the report.

Tan refuted the accusations.

"I had my son in my 40s. How could I abuse him when all I wish to give him is more love?" he said.

Tan claimed his son has benefitted from the dress code and that he plans to keep the boy in nature's own until he reaches two and a half years old.
