17 people detained in Malaysia over terror plans

Seventeen suspected militants were detained on Sunday by the Malaysian police for planning terror activities in the Malaysian capital, Malaysian Inspector- General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted on Monday.

Khalid said that two of the suspects had recently returned from Syria, adding that they were detained by the Special Branch's Counter Terrorism Division personnel.

"As I mentioned before, I will never allow Malaysia to be a transit point or hideout for any terror groups," he said.
