Meet in Beijing Arts Festival to start with coproduction of classic ballet ‘Swan Lake’

The 15th Meet in Beijing Arts Festival will open on April 23 with a Sino-US coproduced ballet Swan Lake, the festival's organizers announced at a press conference Thursday.

Dancers from The National Ballet of China, the American Ballet Theater and the Boston Ballet will take the stage for the two performances of Swan Lake at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts.

Isabella Boylston from the American Ballet Theater and Ma Xiaodong from The National Ballet of China will star as the Swan and Prince for the first performance, while Wang Ye from China and Paulo Arrais from the Boston Ballet will take on the roles for the second evening's show.

According to Feng Ying, the director of The National Ballet of China, this classic Tchaikovsky ballet will be choreographed by Natalia Makarova. 

A total of over 100 indoor and 50 outdoor performances featuring singers and dancers from 25 countries will share stages across the capital until May 30.
