Wang Tianpu, general manager of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), one of the country's oil giants, has been put under investigation for suspected "serious law and discipline violations," according to the top anti-graft authority.

The statement was released Monday by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI). The CCDI publicized in February the results of its third round of inspections in 2014, targeting major SOEs. It said that corruption in the Sinopec Group was found in areas including project construction, oil products sales and its overseas businesses. The CCDI has set the goal of inspecting all major SOEs during the latest session in January, making combating corruption in SOEs one of the priorities for 2015.
