A total of 4,050 rescuers from 34 countries have joined the rescue and aid efforts in earthquake- ravaged Nepal, the country's Home Ministry said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Nepal's military officials said over 500 foreign rescuers have departed home, leaving unfinished tasks to domestic rescue teams.

Local media reported that the Nepalese authorities have urged international rescue personnel to leave the country, a claim which could not be verified by any officials.

Aid workers involved in medical treatment and engineering, however, are reportedly welcomed in Nepal.

In remote areas of the severely-affected districts, residents are awaiting food and other supplies, as medical teams and aid items failed to reach to these locations.
