Up to 114 militants have been killed during military operations and clashes with the Afghan security forces since early Thursday, the country's Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

"A total of 114 terrorists were killed and 103 others wounded during military operations and clashes over the past 48 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

Some 14 Afghan army personnel died as a result of landmine explosions and enemy's firing throughout the country over the same period, the statement confirmed.

The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.

The Taliban has intensified attacks over the past couple of months as the Afghan security forces assumed the full security responsibility from NATO-led troops since Jan. 1.
