A 73-year-old Beijinger is being hailed as a hero after he saved the life of a fellow passenger on an international flight, media reported Monday. Zhang Jinsheng was traveling on the 13-hour flight from Dubai to South Africa on April 7 when the woman in front of him began to panic. Her husband seated beside her had gone into cardiac arrest.

Flight crew members were summoned and appeals for a doctor were displayed on the cabin screens. "I wasn't without my reservations. After all, I'm not a doctor," Zhang said.

Thankfully Zhang, an experienced traveler who also suffers from heart disease, was  prepared. He approached the pale and sweating man and managed to force nitroglycerine pills between his teeth.

The mustachioed man regained consciousness after 10 minutes.

Zhang had returned to his seat when the woman approached him and handed over an envelope containing $2,000 in cash.

Zhang politely refused and told the woman, "We are all brothers and will meet again if destiny deems it."
